My Mother The Cheerleader

My Mother The Cheerleader is a historical fiction book taking place during segregation when civil rights movements begin to take off. The story follows Louise Collins, an elementary school girl living in the Ninth Ward of New Orleans with her mother in their boarding house.  Louise's life is drastically changed when she is pulled out of school by her mother when desegregation begins. Meanwhile, Louise's mother is at her school with a group of women whom gather to taunt and heckle little 6 year old Ruby Bridges, the school's first African- American student. All Louise's life, she felt alone and misunderstood, as her mother took no great interest in her and she had no clue who her father was. But one day, Morgan Miller stepped into her life, and she finally felt understood. As the story moves along, Louise begins to learn everything she thought she knew wasn't all that true. I really liked this book, especially towards the end, when it becomes very dramatic and lots of secrets are revealed and Louise becomes desperate for change and desperate for answers. I highly recommend this book.

Second Sight

I have just finished Second Sight by Gary Blackwood. It is about two kids a boy and a girl who live during the Civil War and the time when Lincoln was president. These kids an ordinary boy who has a theatre act and the girl who has something called second sight are the only ones who will be able to save president Lincoln from his fate.

Bunheads- I just finished Bunheads. It was an amazing story about a girl who grew up and lived and breathed ballet. She had no time for a real life though, so slowly throughout the book as she meets two incredibly handsome guys, she starts to unravel and take time out of dancing. Being a part of the Manhattan ballet, she is very serious and is on and off about making time because of workouts, but it turns out really nicely and i recommend it to everyone!

I just started the book "Why we Broke Up" by Daniel Handler. He wrote all the Series of Unfortunate Events and this is his first YA novel. It's a really cool way to tell the story of these two teenagers, Ed and Min. The book starts at the end, after they're broken up and then it goes back to the beginning, when they first meet. And the whole story is told through objects, like movie posters, and restaurant signs, marking points in their relationships. Each object has it's own story behind it and that's a really interesting way to teall the story, the only book like that I've ever seen
I read the ttyl, ttfn, and l8r gator (the last of which the library doesn't have) and they are really good! It's all about 3 different girls who have such different personalities and interests and how they survive high school together, facing bullies and mean guys and parents' decisions. It's really cool to read books like these because it's not a book that has girls living these perfect fantasies. The book has real life situations and it's like an honest version of how to grow up.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians book three

I have just finished the third book in this series. In this book Percy along with his friends from camp meet the Hunters and have to go on a quest with a half bood they had just met. Annabeth in trouble, Luke gaining power, the gods divided, two of the most powerful half bloods on a quest with two hunters and a satyr, on a quest that is likely to fail.

Book the first in the Series of Unfortunate Events

I have just finished reading the first book in the Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket. This book is about the three unfortunate Baudelaire children, who while at the beach learn that their parents are dead. A friend of their parents, Mr. Poe find them a relative to live with, as that was their parents wishes...

Catching Fire

I read Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins recently and liked it more than I thought I would. The first book of the trilogy seemed to have no where to go with a second book, so I was a little skeptical when I started Catching Fire. Katniss's family and friends are in danger with the grudge powerful President Snow has against her. She mus act exactly as he wants her to in order to keep the peace. However, her actions become risky as she soon learns her symbol, the Mockingjay, has become the secret emblem of the rebel forces, seeking to revel against the wicked ways of The Capitol. The same excitement from the first book is brought back when she and Peeta must enter the Hunger Games arena for a second time along with 22 other victors from the past. I finished this book quickly, as it is captivating and full of action and suspense.  I was kept in edge throughout this read and can't wait to finish the third book.

The Perks of Being a Wallflower

I recently finished The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chboski. This story of a misfit boy is told through his letters sent to an unknown receiver. Charlie started off high school after his only friend took his own life. After struggling to be socially successful, he befriends an interesting group of older kids and soon becomes overwhelmed with new feelings and experiences. As a fan of Catcher in the Rye, I really enjoyed this book, as Charlie shares the same overwhelming sensitivity as Holden. It was very interesting to read this intimate story of the travels through high school told from the perspective seen from the fringes of life. This coming of age novel was a passionate, hilarious and poignant tale that I as a high schooler could appreciate even more. I recommend this powerful, moving story.

One of the scientists in the laboratory helps them to escape and hides them in a remote location, until one day he disappears. Eventually the scientists find them and capture the littlest one, Angel. The rest of the kids go to save her and end up getting captured. There they find out that the person who rescued them from the lab was one of the scientists all along. They then escape and head to New York, where they had overheard that the records on there parents were kept.

This time it is during a game of dodgeball when the player morph into a gang of ugly cannibal giant. When this happens Annabeth, Percy's friend, shows up bringing bad news about the camp, the magical border that  is protecting the camp is failing as a result of being poisoned.
