You're the One That I Want
After skipping many book in the Gossip Girl series, I was confused for a few chapters, but eventually got my bearings. This novel follows the same story line and characters as All I Want Is You. Again, it was a fast read, and a guilty pleasure. The focus on everyone's mind at this time was their college acceptance (and sometimes rejection) letters. I found myself feeling empathy for the characters while I start the dreading application process. This read was quick and easily relatable, although wouldn't recommend it to anyone under 16.
All I Want is Everything
I read one of the Gossip Girl novels as a book equivalent of a chick flick; an easy read and a guilty pleasure. This story of a group of rich, classy Manhattan swelling teens is both outrageous and relatable at the same time. While the situations seem nearly impossible at times, it's a little fun to imagine I could be a teenager in New York. The stresses with college, boys and friendships these characters face are similar to that of any adolescent, and having a relatable story is always interesting.
Percy Jackson and the Olympians book 5
In this last book of the series Percy finds himself at another problem, his 16th birthday. As the prophecy says on the 16th birthday of a child of one of the Big Three he or she will have to make a decision that will either save or be the end of Olympus. Who will be the child of the prophecy, that is the question?

My Mother The Cheerleader
I read this book for school, so I really didn't expect to like it. I was supposed to find five passages in it to write about and I found myself not being able to choose between so many. Kara pretty much covered what the book was about in her earlier post, but just to recap, it was about a girl who's mother was a "cheerleader", who would stand on the sidelines cheering against integration while Ruby Bridges walked into the all white school. When the character, Morgan comes in, everything changes. You will just have to read it to find out the rest! It was really captivating and I loved it.

Life as We Knew it
Life as We Knew it is a book that kind of scared me in an intriguing way. It starts off with a normal teenager named Miranda. Her life is completely normal, and she likes to be somewhat invisible in school. Then, out of the blue, scientists claim that an asteroid is going to hit the moon. It shouldn't be a big deal, and Miranda doesn't treat it like one. The night that the asteroid drops is the night that changes everybody's lives. The asteroid hits the moon with so much force, the moon is knocked out of its place, changing the gravitational pull. Tsunami's, earthquakes, and volcanoes start all over the world, and Miranda's family thinks fast before they get caught in one. They go to the grocery store and buy carts of food, water, and gas, not knowing what they will need in the near future. The book tells the story of their survival skills, and Miranda's fierce devotion to keeping her family alive in this unknown lifestyle. I wouldn't say that everyone will enjoy Life as We Knew it, but people who like Sci-fi defnantly will.

Between Shades of Gray.
Between Shades of Gray is one of the most inspirational books I have ever read. It is about a fifteen year old girl named Lena, who lives in Lithuania in 1941. One night, the Soviets come and take Lena, her mother, and her little brother by force. They have ten minutes to pack up their lives and follow the soldiers. Their father had not gotten home from work yet. The Soviets take them to a train, and their journey starts from there. Lena faces horrifying things that make her grow up fast, and comprehends them through flashbacks. She puts her feelings into her drawing and writing, a serious offense in the Soviet's minds. Lena passes her drawings on, in the hopes that they will reach her father, while her family struggles to keep it together, and to stay away from the Soviets. Anyone who likes war history will really like this book, boy or girl. Lena's side of the story is one that will pull you into the book, and not stop reading until it is finished. I loved this book, and finished it in a day.

June Bug
This book tells the story of an innocent nine year old girl named June Bug. "Home" is their rickety trailer her dad keeps needing new parts for. As she gets older, June bug begins to wonder why they move around so much, never staying in one place for more than a couple days. |
One day, when they park at a Walmart for new trailer parts, June Bug walks into the store to look around. When she looks at the posters of missing and kidnapped children, she is shocked to find her picture on the list. Slowly, the story of who she really is begins to unravel, and there are more twists than meets the eye. I liked this book a lot, because it surprised me so many times, and i didn't see what was coming till the very end. I'd recommend it to anyone who likes mystery, suspense, and a tough main character.

Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul
Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul is a very relatable book. There are so many different stories about life, family, friends, and love. Some stories made me laugh, and others made me cry, but most were just plain inspirational. One of my favorites was about a boy who hurt his legs in an accident, but didn't give up, and is now a professional runner. Each story comes with their own life lesson and some harder to read than others.
I really would recommend this to everyone, because these stories are just long enough to make you want more.
